Summer Ephemera

Life and Journal Spreads

📘📖✈️🔮

Art • Travel • Magic • Severance
A digital collage of the section of my notebook for all the fics I've read this year - gold sticker lettering, and little laminated stickers that highlight beloved fanfiction tropes. The rest are my handwriting giving the title of the fic, a little review of it, off a Reading Log stamp that's all over the following pages.

The little book fic tropes were cut from a flyer at C2E2 a couple years ago. The artist is Brandie Fettig.

Mood: Inspired

Music: The Subway by Chappell Roan

Snack: Iced white chocolate coffee

To Watch: I joined the Magic of the Month club, run by the Newkirk Museum of the Paranormal (Greg and Dana) today! I'm so excited. Gotta watch their earlier MotMs. Also, I've begun my '31 days of horror' a month early bc I'm committing to at least one horror flick every other day.

This summer was amazing. A staycation and a trip to California for my and my nephew’s birthday in August. I’ll see if I can get some travel photography up. I also took two classes over the summer - Instructional Strategy and Digital Citizenship (now I only have only 28 credits to go). The former, I discovered UIUC’s grades offer pluses and minuses?!? I got an “A+” on Instructional Strategy. I'm embarrassed to be so pleased.

There’s been a lot of planning for the fall as well. This is truly my season. First on the docket will be a trip to Disney (and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!), a quick jaunt down to Berwyn to attend Greg and Dana Newkirk’s Haunted Objects Show, and then a camping trip in Wisconsin. And after that I’ll still have about three weeks left of October to prepare for Samhain and Halloween 🎃

Over the summer I’ve become enamored with collage art/scrapbooking/journaling. I don’t have a system though. Just a fat beloved journal I’ve had since last September. It’s a softcover DesignWorks Ink notebook (found at TJ Maxx). I've been around on Masto (#LibraryMonsterMakes), Insta, and Tiktok with it (yeah I'm getting along with Tiktok rn). I'll put some select spreads (that don't reveal anything personal) into my art page at some point.

Ta!

My notebook is open and it's a whole collage of art and photography from the TV show Severance.
↑ I want to do more fannish spreads like these. Also theme spreads (as we slip into fall I'm rolling around and reveling in camping, coastal haunts, ghost hunting, working magic, etc.)

8 Credits Down, 32 to Go

And a bunch of final projects to share.

Also I wax poetic on why Severance is so good.

DIGITAL READING JOURNAL AND RESOURCE CENTER

As part of my resolutions for 2025, I want to get back into reading books (in addition to the considerable, tasty amounts of fanfic I read) and diligently tracking it. After all, I am on count down to begin my masters of science in library and information science!

As a huge fan of Jurassic Park, and to see someone merging the premise with an interesting AU of Crowley and Aziraphale, I was so there.
