Watching the trailer for #HeartOfTheBeast and it would be hilarious if Brad Pitt died in the plane crash in the first 20 minutes of this thing and the rest of the movie was the dog's survival adventure

Omg omg on a lark I decided to try #Octoprint again using an old laptop I installed #Linux onto (the touchscreen flickers & breaks if you move it - restarts fine, but it became super fragile bc of this issue so I had to retire it) & I actually did it with step-by-step instructions from AI. This is so exciting I'll be able to send print jobs to my printer & monitor stuff from any device on my wifi network π€

Between work and home, I've switched over to using #Firefox browser with default search engine #Ecosia because #Google's excessive #AI responses to simple word or phrase searches felt wasteful & shameful to me.I have noticed that Ecosia will trigger an AI response if it clocks a search that sounds like it could be a good one for #AI & I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's not terrible but also still not the pure web search all the time that I want.

Just installed Jellyfin to access my stuff! Which includes an extensive home & family library of photography & videos that I'll be able to access remotely soon (as soon as I figure out how to do more with my VPN besides just turning it on and off)

I'm so chuffed how easy it was to set up #jellyfin this is honestly the most exciting day \o/ I also feel so vindicated for standing on business and absolutely refusing to keep all my home photos & videos & relying on a #BigTech cloud storage/organizer app. I never wanted Amazon, Facebook, Apple, or Google to have access to all of that & now I finally have an interface that works like its own streaming platform, and there's metadata editing, etc. & it's all mine ππ«ππ₯

#Call4Artists #DigitalArtists Would anyone be willing to develop and create an avatar for me? No AI, obviously. My budget is $75 via Paypal. This would be great for anyone who enjoys making #cyberpunk & #solarpunk art.I think the process is to DM me with some work you've done & I'll let you know my concept to see if you'd like to do it? Also I promise I won't ghost you βπ»First time soliciting custom digital art so if I've missed a step, please let me know! Cheers π #PleaseBoost

Sorry I'm all about #TV right now but there's a lot of good stuff on & I don't have school so I'm enjoying my summer. I finished #ThePitt season 2 a couple days ago & it was okay; with Mel's sister gaining so much awesome independence in this season, it's setting stuff up for Mel's character development in season 3 and I CANNOT wait to watch that; discover who she is in addition to a doctor & a sister πππ Mel's my girl

I'd actually have fun creating triggers for my website to go down with custom messages, like a #meshtastic device picking up on bad weather & pulling it down with a specific note, or if traffic hits too high - "hug of death down time" (haha)

I'm back on it with #selfhosting ! Last yr I was getting into it but most ppl were like "it's not worth it, ur website goes down if the server breaks/ur house loses power/too much traffic & ISP will want to put ur connection into a 'commercial' category, etc" and 1st of all, my #neocities site began almost 3 yrs ago. Too much traffic has never been a problem π For my website going down, I don't rly mind it? I'll still have my files; it'll just go up again when the weather clears

After over 6 months trying to adopt #Apple phones with an iPhone 17 (and please be aware this is about my experience with Apple phones - I have an Apple iPad & I love it), I've moved back to #Android. P will get it for Father's Day!!! I'll take his old iPhone 12 so I can still have an iPhone for reference and tech help interactions at work though. Here's the good for me on iPhones: The iPhone 17 has an incredible automatic camera + filters to make every picture gorgeous. This feature makes such a huge difference in one's experience with their phone. iPhone widgets are awesome - Pressreader's top stories were great (their widget is there in Android but not working for me). Wikipedia had an iPhone widget of the most popular articles that doesn't exist on Android π And weirdly, the whole Hoopla app isn't working on my Nothing3 Android (login page just doesn't appear). The iPhone bad: I write creatively on my phone (long story short I quit smoking & the only way to write without triggering cravings was in bed on my phone, and I came to really enjoy the process!), and I basically stopped when I got the iPhone. I thought perhaps I would learn to love the keyboard; through osmosis & constant texting & writing, I would just pick up how it worked. Instead I came to rely on dictation, which sure is great for casual conversation but dictation is too much if you're worldbuilding or getting emotional over your own scenes. I didn't fiddle with the settings as much as I suppose I could've, and a tech ed colleague of mine indicated her iPhone wasn't as chaotic as my iPhone keyboard was, so perhaps I still just didn't customize it properly. But...

My darling babe Tavish crossed the rainbow bridge today. He had heart disease but this was sudden heart failure. He was a rescue, estimated 3-4 years old when we adopted him in 2016. When we adopted him, he was pretty traumatized & scared at first. He’d been rescued from a puppy mill in Oklahoma; kept in a cage outside & obviously mistreated by humans. He was never aggressive with us (or anyone), just easily spooked. I called him my mouse pup. He had the sweetest light brown eyes. The cutest little kitten licks. As he got older, we built some amazing trustful habits: Tavvy would bark for me in the morning and night for cuddles and kisses. He would get so excited for bed, our little twirling dervish, “Tavishnikov” doing pirouettes when it was time for naps & night-nights. Every time I got home for work he’d go up on his hind legs and I’d “catch” him & pick him up, put him in my lap.Hugs, kisses, staring into each other’s eyes for a while. Those endorphin boosts were the best after a long day. He loved my nails scritching his little head.I’m sure there’s more. I’ll probably edit this post further as I think of them.
Edit: he had the best Christmas Day this year; we wrapped a ton of small squeaky toys for him and every time we indicated a gift was for him, and helped him unwrap it, he got so excited. When it was finally free of wrapping, he'd hoard it and chew on it (until the next gift came along)!
It was controlled and peaceful, with Tavvy only a little uncomfortable, not distressed or scared. I’m really grateful to BluePearl Emergency Animal Hospital.
I miss him so much already. Gotta remember he’s in doggy heaven chasing the hot dog (toy) with his...
